What´s measured
The diabetes test measures 4 parameters
Your blood sugar test results will show you if you have higher blood sugar levels.
HbA1c
HbA1c stands for glycated haemoglobin, another parameter of metabolism in the body. It provides information about glucose levels over the last 2-3 months.
Insulin
Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas. It is involved in regulating blood sugar levels by allowing your cells to use glucose (sugar) from ingested food as a source of energy.
Glucose
Glucose, popularly called blood sugar, is a simple carbohydrate that is the main source of energy for cells. In diabetes, glucose cannot get into the cells, so its levels may increase.
The HOMA
The HOMA index (Homeostasis Model Assessment) is a simple method to assess the homeostasis model, it is used in the diagnosis of insulin resistance. After a 12-hour fasting period, insulin and glucose levels are determined and an index is calculated. Elevated values indicate insulin resistance and risk of type 2 diabetes.
