About this test

Check your ovarian reserve by means of an AMH test (Anti-Müllerian hormone). Get an overview of how you can influence your path to pregnancy. This test will show an AMH value that can be used to estimate quite accurately the number of eggs in your ovaries.

Reduced AMH levels during a woman’s reproductive years indicate a reduced number of eggs (which means a low ovarian reserve). If the ovarian reserve decreases at a rapid pace, this usually results in a shortening of the reproductive period and the related probability of pregnancy.

Benefits of the AMH (ovarian reserve) test

  • Valuable contribution to pregnancy planning
  • Result in 2 days
  • During a single blood draw, we can analyse this parameter along with a range of additional biomarkers. Explore our Product Configurator.
  • You can do the test on any day of your cycle – the levels do not change during the cycle

What´s measured

What is AMH or Anti-Müllerian hormone

Anti-Müllerian hormone (AMH) is synthesized by ovarian follicular cells. This hormone controls the process of egg maturation, and its concentration is related to the number of eggs, the so-called ovarian reserve.

Measuring the level of AMH in the blood provides a reliable estimate of the supply (reserve) of eggs and, accordingly, the probability of becoming pregnant. Its informative value does not depend on the menstrual cycle, which makes AMH a valuable quantitative indicator of functional ovarian reserve. Around the age of 30, the level of AMH begins to decrease until it is eventually not detected during menopause. The AMH test is an indicator of female fertility.

The diagnosis of a fertility disorder affects approximately 15% of couples of childbearing age. Examination of ovarian function and determination of ovarian reserve is one of the basic diagnoses in women who have not become pregnant in 12 or 6 months, with regard to:
-    age,
-    medical history,
-    clinical condition of the woman.

AMH is a reliable and preferred quantitative indicator of functional ovarian reserve, which does not depend on the phase of the menstrual cycle. Although it is related to the number of eggs, a low value is not necessarily a final verdict of infertility.

Knowledge of a woman's reproductive potential and an individual approach, including proper education, provides infertile couples with valuable information, which greatly facilitates their decision in further pregnancy planning or draws their attention to the advisability of seeking professional care.

AMH is used to assess ovarian reserve and, in conjunction with other clinical and laboratory results, is used to predict the response to so-called controlled ovarian stimulation (COS).

How the AMH test works
Blood sampling can be done on any day of the menstrual cycle, as AMH levels do not change during the cycle. You will receive your blood test results within two days and you can discuss them with your doctor.

For diagnostic purposes, the results of AMH levels should always be assessed in conjunction with the patient's medical history, clinical examination, and other findings.

What interests you about the Test AMH (Anti Müllerian Hormon)?

What is AMH?

AMH is the abbreviation for Anti-Müller hormone, which is produced by the granulosa cells of the follicles (in which the eggs mature), while regulating their gradual maturation. AMH values are related to the number of eggs in the ovaries, and by examining it the size of the ovarian reserve can be determined.

What does AMH determine?

AMH, i.e. Anti-Müllerian hormone, is examined from the blood and determines the approximate number of eggs in the ovaries. A low AMH level indicates a reduced quantity and quality of eggs and possible problems with conceiving naturally.

What should be the value of AMH?

In a healthy woman under the age of 30, AMH varies from 1.2 to 9 ng/ml, in a woman over the age of 30 from 0.4 to 6.5 ng/ml. Experts say that the AMH norm ranges from 2 to 2.5 ng/ml. Very high AMH values indicate a problem, most often polycystic ovary syndrome (POCS).

When to go for an AMH test?

You can take a blood sample for the AMH test on any day of the menstrual cycle, because the level of the hormone does not change during the cycle. For collection, you can come to any of more than 30 collection points throughout Slovakia. You will receive the result within 2 working days.

How fast does the AMH level drop?

The dependence of the AMH level on age has been scientifically proven. Experts have confirmed a significantly decreasing tendency of the hormone after the age of 31, while after reaching this age the serum level of AMH decreases by 9.3% per year. Get your AMH level tested as soon as possible.
