Urine pH – expresses the acidity or alkalinity of urine on a scale from 0 to 14. A neutral pH value is 7, while normal urine pH ranges between 4.5 and 8. The test is used to assess metabolism and kidney function, with acidic pH (< 5.5) promoting the formation of urate and cystine stones and alkaline pH (> 7.5) promoting the formation of phosphate and struvite stones.
