About this test

The apoB/apoA1 ratio reflects the balance between atherogenic and antiatherogenic lipoproteins in the blood and is generally considered a significant indicator of cardiovascular risk.

Many studies have shown that a higher apoB/apoA1 ratio is associated with a higher risk of heart attack and other cardiovascular diseases, and it is often a better predictor of risk than traditional lipid markers (LDL-c, HDL-c, total cholesterol/HDL-c). Elevated values can help identify individuals with an apparently normal baseline lipid profile who nevertheless have a higher risk of atherosclerosis due to elevated levels of small, dense LDL and triglycerides.

In clinical practice, the apoB/apoA1 ratio is used as an additional parameter to help identify residual risk and guide further healthcare planning, particularly in patients with metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, or apparently “normal” LDL cholesterol levels.

Notice

If you add the ApoB/ApoA1 Index to your shopping cart, do not add the Apolipoprotein B and Apolipoprotein A1 tests. This package already includes them.
