What does an elevated AST level mean?
High AST levels are often a sign of hepatitis, cirrhosis, mononucleosis, or other liver diseases, but they can also be a sign of heart problems or pancreatitis. AST levels are also affected by age, gender, diet, or certain medications.
How to lower AST?
First of all, we recommend treating the condition that led to the elevated AST, which will normalize liver enzymes. If you want to lower AST quickly, avoid alcohol completely, add folic acid to your diet, drink at least one cup of coffee a day, and be more active.
